Three beautiful time lapses for sore eyes

If you're a HD-aholic like me, then you probably love time lapse photography. Time lapse photography is a cinematography technique where each film frame is captured at a rate much slower than it will eventually be played back. When the footage is replayed at normal speed, clouds, weather or whatever you've captured appear to be moving faster or lapsing.

Vimeo is loaded with some of the best time lapses on the Web. Below are three beautiful time lapse videos set to cure your sore, end-of-the-work-week eyes.

Christoph Rehage spent a year walking across China. On his way, he took photos of his face every day and made this time-lapse video. These kind of videos have been around for a long time, but Rehage's is the best I've seen, because of the interesting backgrounds and the way he integrates bits of moving video with the still images. - Description taken from BoingBoing.net

The Unseen Sea from Simon Christen on Vimeo.

Simon Christen of Switzerland is a professional animator and an aspiring photographer. His photography work focuses mainly on "nature and landscape" and "urban exploration." The video is a compilation of his time lapses which chronicle a very small portion of his travels.

Cinco De Mayo Carnival from Andrew Curtis on Vimeo.

Andrew Curtis captured 2,683 photos for this time lapse. Curtis spent two nights collecting the photos of the Cinco De Mayo Carnival in Portland, Oregon. A part of this video was even featured on KATU Ch. 2 in Portland in 2008.
