Apple may launch new Mac OS at upcoming event

apple
Apple made a lot of progress in the mobile market this year. The company's quarterly revenue jumped 61 percent to $15.7 billion last quarter while its net income leaped an 78 percent to $3.25 billion according to Chief Operating Officer Tim Cook.

Are we really surprised? Think about it. The company launched the world's first slate-design mobile device - the iPad, as well as the iPhone 4 with a new operating system. Beyond mobile devices, Apple released new iMacs with larger screens, new Mac Pros and now.....the company just might announce a new OS for Macs at its next event.

The event invitation above was borrowed from Mashable (who borrowed from Engadget) who points out the lion behind the logo and the Apple's OS naming structure listed below.

  • Mac OS X 10.0: Cheetah
  • Mac OS X 10.1: Puma
  • Mac OS X 10.2: Jaguar
  • Mac OS X 10.3: Panther
  • Mac OS X 10.4: Tiger
  • Mac OS X 10.5: Leopard
  • Mac OS X 10.6: Snow Leopard

So is Apple planning to release Mac OS X 10.7? Regardless, if there is a live feed, we'll have it.
